Ms. Arbolino's End of the Year Letter

    Dear PS 100 Families,

We made it!  Thanks to your support, our children made it through an unprecedented school year.  Summer break is upon us and I hope you all have an opportunity to breathe and reflect on all you accomplished this year.  You were an integral part of your child’s education this year and their level of success directly reflects on you.  Thank you for working hard.

As we head into this time of rejuvenation, I would like to provide you with important information and resources that will help you prepare for the upcoming school year.  It is crucial that you stay up to date with plans for our September reopening to ensure a smooth transition.

    • Please update your contact information using the following form linked HERE.  We will be using a new portal called CareMonkey to send home digital paperwork that has to be filled out over the summer and the course of the school year.  CareMonkey makes it easy to fill out and submit school forms right through your cell phone.  (Don’t worry, Class Dojo isn’t going anywhere!)
    • Check ps100x.org and Class Dojo regularly for updates.
    • Students will be required to use their NYCDOE or “@nycstudents.net” accounts starting in September.  Therefore, I am recommending that you visit the NYCDOE Portal for Student accounts, by clicking HERE and setting their accounts up in advance.
    • The DOE has released a FREE summer reading app called SORA.  I will share Chancellor Carranza’s letter about that following this, but you can also read it on the NYCDOE family website.
    • Visit our “Summer Classrooms”.  Your children have been invited to a special summer Google classroom that will help prepare them for the next grade.  Note: Activities in the summer classroom are independent and there will not be a live teacher there.  Consider these activities like the paper summer packets we would normally distribute.  Also, the students will have access to I-Ready until August 13th, so please use this awesome resource.
    • Continue to be patient and flexible.  We do not, at this time, know what September will look like, so we need to be prepared for anything.  No matter what the outcome, PS 100 will be here to support you all the way!

Have a wonderful summer with your family and friends.  Stay safe and healthy.  I look forward to working together with you all in September.

    Keeping it 100,

    Ms. Ariana Arbolino

    Principal

  • Student Attendance During Remote Learning

    Good Morning Families,

Please read the following IMPORTANT Information regarding how we will be making sure your students are present for remote learning every day. The NYC Dept. of Education wants us all to ensure that students are learning every single day and so we have developed the following system to check in with the students for now.

First and foremost, we want to thank you all for everything you are doing to work with us during this uncertain and trying time. You are all doing an amazing job. This is what makes an amazing P.S. 100 community.

Starting next week, your child's teacher will be posting to their Dojo Class Story a "question of the day". We are asking you to have your child answer that question once it's posted. This will help us keep track of all the students who logged on for the day, and your child will be marked present for that day.

If your child doesn't answer the question, further outreach from the school will be made to your home.
